Filling the GAP in HR services: Perfect boots
I’m climbing Snowdon at the beginning of July.
I’ve always loved walking, but I’ve only ever scaled the Welsh peak by train, so I jumped at the chance to take part.
And with just over a month to go, I’ve started training to make sure I’m ready for it – the dog is loving 4 mile walks every evening.
I’ve also started looking into the right equipment, which has ended up taking far longer than I’d hoped.
Session with group leader talking through the equipment needed – 60 minutes.
Trip to Cotswold Outdoors to buy boots – 60 minutes.
Go Outdoors visit to buy ‘wicking’ climbing tops – 30 minutes.
I’ve now spent as much time as it takes me to do a 6-mile hike (uphill) on gadgets and “stuff”, and I’m not even finished!
I know I will fit in the time for the actual walking practice, but how many of us business owners spend a disproportionate amount of time with our “shiny new things” in marketing, trying out new platforms and finetuning things, rather than just getting any marketing out there at all?
Are you spending more time on choosing your marketing “boots” than you are walking in them?
Perfect boots won’t take you anywhere if you never wear them – and it’s the same with marketing; it’s no use spending all your time getting ready if you never actually get anything over the line.
