KCC Basildon is a Korean-owned manufacturer of silicone compounds, antifoams and emulsions.
I started working with them on my HR Navigator package. Their line managers were good on the soft skills of managing, but unsure on the details of employment law. So we spent the next 12 months tightening up on exactly how to deal with issues and what to say when.
As part of this process I introduced an appraisal system.
There hadn’t been one previously due to it being an owner-managed business. Now with the new Korean ownership they needed to be able to integrate more formally with HQ in Korea, harmonising to a certain degree how pay rises, bonuses and promotions were awarded. The new appraisal system was one way of doing that. They also had cultural awareness training from Claire Snowdon at Expat Knowhow: Koreans have a whole different work and management style to the UK.
“Since starting work with Gap HR, we are all reaping the benefit of Carolyne’s knowledge and advice. The monthly training for managers, supervisors and team leaders is extremely positive on all fronts and there has been excellent feedback from the participants in the one-to-one and group sessions. This is a very valuable service from Gap HR, helping us to empower our line managers, nip staff issues in the bud and stay legal!”
