Carolyne Wahlen, HR Specialist
Carolyne has had experience of working in all sizes of companies, from corporate down to businesses with only 2 employees.
As a result she has seen what works in HR and what doesn’t.
She has come across most staff issues at least once in her working life, and can advise succinct and effective action to stop things getting worse.
With over 9 years of experience working with small businesses, she has practical answers to real problems that you can apply now.
Carolyne specialises in preventing issues escalating.
If the staff issue even gets to a disciplinary she sees it as a failure of communication and management.
Carolyne enjoys coming in to help her clients do the “difficult conversations”.
She holds hands with clients and their staff as needed.
She successfully manages the delicate balancing act of being on the “client’s side“, whilst ensuring that fairness and employment law are upheld.
|
Her clients come from many industries:
website design;
subtitling;
catering;
travel agents;
|
pubs;
physiotherapists;
building materials suppliers;
IT support;
|
software diagnostics systems;
marketing consultancies;
and cosmetics; to name but a few.
|
Carolyne has a strong commercial background. Her solutions are practical and realistic for small companies. The solutions take into account budget and staff needs. Best practice is what we all aspire to. Sadly it is not always feasible in any given situation. Carolyne feels passionately about giving employers confidence to deal with staff issues themselves. She wants to give them the knowledge they want to be able to nip issues in the bud. She is always on hand to step in and help where needed.
Outside of work, Carolyne is a Brownie Leader. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.

Gill Craik, HR Specialist
Gill specialises in Employee Engagement. This uses her skills from HR and operational management. Employee engagement is the difference between a normal and a successful company. If your employees are engaged they are more motivated. They are loyal. They give more. They stay longer. They work well. They don’t watch the clock. They are willing to go the extra mile. Finding out about employee engagement helps businesses get more from their most valuable asset – their staff.
Gill has gained a wide range of HR experience in the private and public sectors. She started her career in the food industry. Here she gained operational and commercial experience at all levels. Before changing to HR, she worked as Area/Regional Manager in the restaurant and private health care sectors of Gardner Merchant (part of Trust House Forte).
Outside of work Gill is a member of a number of local committees and supports the local NCT and community pantomime. She is a competitive badminton player and plays for local leagues. She also enjoys spending time socialising with her friends.
